[Ever since Vanitas moved in, Ven's had a lot on his mind. Taking in the same guy who nearly killed a lot of his friends, took over his body, and caused general chaos isn't something most people would even consider.

But Ven's not like other people. He's far too nice for his own good, and what some may consider reckless he views as the 'right' thing-- especially when someone's starving and dehydrated.

So, when he opens the journal, he doesn't look or sound particularly sad-- just a little confused. Something's on his mind, if nothing else.]

Hey, guys. I've got a question... [A beat.]

Let's say you know this guy who's kind of a jerk. What's the best way to help him lighten up a bit and improve his attitude?

[Suddenly, there's another voice chiming in. One some people will probably recognize as Vanitas.]

I hear a lobotomy works wonders.

Hey!

[What follows is some shuffling, followed by a resounding SQUEAK! Probably from an inflatable hammer.]

[ooc: Italics = Vanitas. Ven's gonna be doing most of the talking, but Vanitas might make some background comments!]

...That's rough. Makes it pretty hard to make him have fun if he can't see it.

I'm sure there's still some things he can do, though. It just makes things harder.

Besides, it'll be easier to help him this way. If he could see, he'd probably go back to what he did before-- trying to kill people.

Well, he's my responsibility, Gold. I know he's dangerous, and that's why I wanna get through to him somehow.

I know. Especially when you're someone like Vanitas. He's... more than just a jerk.

You can try all you want to get him to lighten up, but none of that'll matter if you don't figure him out first.

Right. And I know a little about him, but there's gotta be a way to get him to open up. If I could understand him a little better, maybe I could get through to him somehow.

Well, what do you know about him? Maybe you have more in common with him than you think!

He's my darkness, and I know a little about his past.

[Said with a totally straight face. Yeeeep.]

Vanitas used to be the darkness in my heart until my old Master split us apart. My heart's made of pure light, and his is pure darkness.

[There. Maybe? Hopefully it's clearer that way.]

[Why does that sound familiar to him? It definitely sounds familiar to him. But why? ...Eh, not important.]

...Uh... huh.

It was kinda like magic?

[...Man, this is awkward to explain.]

...That's weird, dude. Like, seriously really weird.

It's pretty normal where I'm from, though. Well... sorta. I didn't even know about it until I got here, but if people can lose their hearts to darkness, getting their hearts split doesn't sound too crazy to me.

...Soooo, in other words, this guy and you... are basically the same person, right?

Sort of. We're completely different people now, but we're still two halves of the same whole.

It's still pretty complicated, though. Just be glade you weren't there when he took control of me a few months back.
