[Ever since Vanitas moved in, Ven's had a lot on his mind. Taking in the same guy who nearly killed a lot of his friends, took over his body, and caused general chaos isn't something most people would even consider.

But Ven's not like other people. He's far too nice for his own good, and what some may consider reckless he views as the 'right' thing-- especially when someone's starving and dehydrated.

So, when he opens the journal, he doesn't look or sound particularly sad-- just a little confused. Something's on his mind, if nothing else.]

Hey, guys. I've got a question... [A beat.]

Let's say you know this guy who's kind of a jerk. What's the best way to help him lighten up a bit and improve his attitude?

[Suddenly, there's another voice chiming in. One some people will probably recognize as Vanitas.]

I hear a lobotomy works wonders.

[What follows is some shuffling, followed by a resounding SQUEAK! Probably from an inflatable hammer.]

Yeah. See, the reason why we got split apart was to create this powerful weapon. The two of us had to fight for it to work, and then he forced me to join with him.

I'll say. [Gold shudders at the thought of something like that happening to him.]

...And you're tryin' to make nice with this guy?

I'm trying to show him that there's more to life than just fighting. It's all he's ever known, but that doesn't mean he can't change.

[Silence, and then a quiet chuckle from Gold.]

Maybe a little, but is that really a bad thing?

[It's all good. Ven sounds pretty amused as well.]

...Okay, then I'll share with you my surefire technique for accomplishing this!

[Because what's he got to lose, anyway?]

Forcing him to have fun or gettin' to know him better's fine and all , but the real way to get through him to him is end up in a situation with him where you have the same goal!

The same goal? Hmm, I wonder what kinda goals we actually share, though.

Getting stronger, maybe.

Well, you're the same dude. You've gotta have somethin' in common, even if he's evil.

That's true. Just gotta get past all his defenses somehow; maybe if I can earn his trust, he'll be more open with me.

I mean, I did save his life.
