risingwinds: (Could you repeat that?)

Seventeenth Shooting Star - voice;

[Ever since Vanitas moved in, Ven's had a lot on his mind. Taking in the same guy who nearly killed a lot of his friends, took over his body, and caused general chaos isn't something most people would even consider.

But Ven's not like other people. He's far too nice for his own good, and what some may consider reckless he views as the 'right' thing-- especially when someone's starving and dehydrated.

So, when he opens the journal, he doesn't look or sound particularly sad-- just a little confused. Something's on his mind, if nothing else.]

Hey, guys. I've got a question... [A beat.]

Let's say you know this guy who's kind of a jerk. What's the best way to help him lighten up a bit and improve his attitude?

[Suddenly, there's another voice chiming in. One some people will probably recognize as Vanitas.]

I hear a lobotomy works wonders.

Hey!

[What follows is some shuffling, followed by a resounding SQUEAK! Probably from an inflatable hammer.]

[ooc: Italics = Vanitas. Ven's gonna be doing most of the talking, but Vanitas might make some background comments!]

Sounds like your friend there could use the adjustment.

[Ven... doesn't really consider Vanitas a friend at this point. He's still mad at Vanitas for all of the terrible things he's done, but he's not really grudgey about it, either. It's mostly a tolerance... and this guy did hit the nail on the head.]

That's what I was going for.

Know anybody with a kitchen?

Well, our house has one.

Get a lot of vegetables and tell him to start chopping.

[He speaks from experience.]

[ ....Well. That was kind of a voice she was hoping to never hear again. It kinda just leaves her speechless for a moment or two.

Was...Ven's question referring to Vanitas? She knew he had died but didn't know what happened to him when he came back, not that she actually cared, as cruel as that sounds. He had hurt so many people so if he suffered then he had it coming]

Ven-kun, someone like him won't change, not as easily as you want.

[Voice]

[identity profile] no-use-running.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I think... patience will help, in time. And settling whatever went wrong between you to start.

[This advice brought to you by a girl brainwashed and turned against her friends; she never returned to them until the real rifts began to heal, too.]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if that'd work, though. He's blind because of his death penalty, and I don't know when he'll be able to see again.

Plus he's kinda stubborn.

[voice]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Oh, Naoto. Someone he really should've informed about all this.

Well, too late for that now. He'll deal.]

I know it'll be hard, but I think anyone can change. Some people are just tougher than others.

[Voice]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know it'll take patience, and lots of it. The hard part's getting him to listen.

Vanitas is really set in his ways. He doesn't trust anybody, and if he wasn't blind right now, he'd probably still be hurting people.

[Written]

[identity profile] hi-no-dansu.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Blind, huh? Well, I guess manual labour is out of the question then isn't it?

[Voice]

[identity profile] no-use-running.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[He reminds her a little of Usagi, still trying against those odds. It
makes her smile.]

We listen the most when people tell us something surprising, don't we? Sometimes, all that needs to be is the truth. [The chances Vanitas can have outside the Darkness; the opportunities he's missing by clinging to it, the happiness he could embrace instead.]

[Written]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, at least right now. If he gets his penalty removed, it'll be easier. I just hope I get get through to him before that happens.

[Voice]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
And that's what I've been trying to do. I think the problem's that he doesn't want to open up. Probably because he already has to feel what I feel.

Making friends... it'd make him more like me. That's what he'd think, anyway.

Re: [Voice]

[identity profile] no-use-running.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
He doesn't want to lose himself. He's not wrong for that.

But he can also change without losing who he is.
perplexme: (hmm)

I agree with the lobotomy. Might do him some good.

You know what I think, Ven? The best way to get to them is to kill them with kindness. That's about all you can do. [It's hard for her, since she knows it's Vanitas and she really does not like him, but she knows Ven's willing to try. Besides, that's how things worked out with her and Axel, isn't it?]

[Voice]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I think so too. He doesn't have to be exactly like me. I'm sure that if he stopped attacking people and just tried to get to know 'em, people could like him for who he is. Another problem's that he was trained for one purpose-- and that's to fight me and create a powerful weapon. Violence is all he really knows.

[A beat.]

I just wish I didn't affect him like this. He deserves to have his own feelings and live his own life.

[voice]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
But isn't that kinda harsh?

[voice]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
So you're saying I should be nice to him? Well, that doesn't sound too hard.

[Just a little risky, given Vani's attitude.]
flaring: (dot dot dot.)

[voice]

[personal profile] flaring 2011-09-05 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Kind of a jerk?

[voice]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Well, he didn't want to make it too obvious, but then Vanitas barged into his room.]

A huge jerk.

[Voice]

[identity profile] no-use-running.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, this question may seem too personal, and I won't say you have to answer it, but it might help to find a solution: Why is it like that between you?

[Behind the question: Is there a chance of Usagi's power being able to separate them out? There may not be; until now, what Usagi's been able to do is separate youma from the humans they possess so the youma can be defeated without harming the person.]

[Voice]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about it. It's no big secret or anything.

[If anything, he's pretty open about it.]

It's because Vanitas is my darkness. He used to be a part of me, until my old Master split us apart.

If you were originally one, it might not be possible to divide those feelings after all.
