risingwinds | Seventeenth Shooting Star

[Ever since Vanitas moved in, Ven's had a lot on his mind. Taking in the same guy who nearly killed a lot of his friends, took over his body, and caused general chaos isn't something most people would even consider.

But Ven's not like other people. He's far too nice for his own good, and what some may consider reckless he views as the 'right' thing-- especially when someone's starving and dehydrated.

So, when he opens the journal, he doesn't look or sound particularly sad-- just a little confused. Something's on his mind, if nothing else.]

Hey, guys. I've got a question... [A beat.]

Let's say you know this guy who's kind of a jerk. What's the best way to help him lighten up a bit and improve his attitude?

[Suddenly, there's another voice chiming in. One some people will probably recognize as Vanitas.]

I hear a lobotomy works wonders.

Hey!

[What follows is some shuffling, followed by a resounding SQUEAK! Probably from an inflatable hammer.]

[ooc: Italics = Vanitas. Ven's gonna be doing most of the talking, but Vanitas might make some background comments!]

Right. And I know a little about him, but there's gotta be a way to get him to open up. If I could understand him a little better, maybe I could get through to him somehow.

Well, what do you know about him? Maybe you have more in common with him than you think!

He's my darkness, and I know a little about his past.

Vanitas used to be the darkness in my heart until my old Master split us apart. My heart's made of pure light, and his is pure darkness.

[There. Maybe? Hopefully it's clearer that way.]

[Why does that sound familiar to him? It definitely sounds familiar to him. But why? ...Eh, not important.]

...Uh... huh.

It was kinda like magic?

[...Man, this is awkward to explain.]

Caused me to lose all my memories, too.

...That's weird, dude. Like, seriously really weird.

It's pretty normal where I'm from, though. Well... sorta. I didn't even know about it until I got here, but if people can lose their hearts to darkness, getting their hearts split doesn't sound too crazy to me.

...Soooo, in other words, this guy and you... are basically the same person, right?

Sort of. We're completely different people now, but we're still two halves of the same whole.

It's still pretty complicated, though. Just be glade you weren't there when he took control of me a few months back.

Yeah. See, the reason why we got split apart was to create this powerful weapon. The two of us had to fight for it to work, and then he forced me to join with him.

I lost control and could've hurt a whole bunch of people.

[...Herp.]

It was weird and scary at the same time.

I'll say. [Gold shudders at the thought of something like that happening to him.]

...And you're tryin' to make nice with this guy?

I'm trying to show him that there's more to life than just fighting. It's all he's ever known, but that doesn't mean he can't change.

[Silence, and then a quiet chuckle from Gold.]

You're a crazy kid, Ven.

Maybe a little, but is that really a bad thing?

[It's all good. Ven sounds pretty amused as well.]

...Okay, then I'll share with you my surefire technique for accomplishing this!
