[Ever since Ven returned to the village he's been on-edge... to put it lightly. Between the draft and his encounter with Vanitas, he's not only exhausted, but pretty scared at this point.

That's why, as he's making his way through the village and back towards his house, he's carrying his Keyblade with him and stopping occasionally just to make sure he's not being followed.

Just don't be surprised if he's a bit jumpy; kid's got a lot on his mind.

And when he finally makes it back home...]

You know, fighting a real war's nothing like fighting the Unversed. It's way more serious, and people die out there, on both sides... It's dangerous and kinda scary.

[He pauses for a few seconds.]

But I'm glad I could help. Even if what the Malnosso do is wrong, that battle was about more than just them. Plus, it feels good protecting people; it's a better reason to fight than just killing.

[And with that off his chest...]

[And by the time Sora reaches the bakery, he should be able to spot Ven hanging close by the door with a chocolate cupcake in hand.]

Hey! [he lifts a hand to wave at Ven cheerfully, and... ooh, that looks good, but Sora could really use a sandwich-- give him a second to run on in and grab himself one, then pry at the wrapper once he's back outside.]

You look like you came out more or less not too scraped up...

Just barely, though.

[He looks down for a moment, then shakes his head. Bah, war.]

I'm just glad to be back.

... Just barely? What happened?

Well, do you know about Vanitas?

I've... heard things, yeah.

Well, it's got a lot to do with him.

[Frowning, Ven takes a quick bite of his cupcake; where should he even start?]

... What about him? Did he train with you under your Keyblade Master or something?

[Heh. Ven shakes his head; Sora's close, in a way, yet way off the mark.]

Not exactly. He's actually a part of me-- my darkness.

... Wait, what?

It's true! Vanitas used to be the darkness in my heart, but my old Master split us apart somehow.

[He frowns, trying to piece it all together. He remembers something... vague. Like a dream he forgot most of the details to.]

... What?

So he's a... heartless... but that doesn't even make any sense.

I don't think he's a Heartless, because he's just half of a heart, not a heart that's taken over by darkness...

[He scratches his head, still visibly perplexed.]

Um... [hold on a second, Ven, Sora's going to do the exact same thing he did when Roxas told him about how the Malnosso cut him open to see if he actually had a heart. that is, he's going to poke Ven right in the chest curiously.]

[He looks down at his chest, then back at Sora, and then he rubs the back of his neck.]

What're you doing?

-- Sorry! I'm just.

[confused. but this is Sora, who merrily traipsed through the World after awakening in the pod without so much as a clue to what was really happening. confusion is par the course for him, really.]

So you kind of have... two halves to you then, right?

Yeah. If Vanitas is my darkness, then I guess all I've got left is light.

Right! There are seven Princesses of Heart-- and they're Princesses because they don't have any darkness in their hearts. They're pure light.

So Prince Ven it is! [you are now officially stuck with this title, Ven. sorry!]

Oh, so they're like Aurora...

[The fairies did mention how much light she has. But, wait--- what?]

Hey! I'm not a Prince.

Sure you are! And yeah, just like Aurora. And Cinderella, and Jasmine, and Snow White... and Alice...

[Cinderella... Snow White... Yeah, watch Ven count his fingers as Sora lists them all.]

I knew Snow White was a princess, but Cinderella, too?

Hey, wait a sec! If she's a Princess, then her dream must've come true!

... What dream? I thought you were born a Princess...

[He shakes his head.]

When I met Cinderella, she lived with her Stepmother and Stepsisters, and they'd always force her to do chores. She almost missed out on the royal ball because they weren't gonna let her finish her dress on time.

That's why me and Jaq finished it for her, that way she could go.

[A beat.]

I don't think she was born a Princess-- not into royalty, anyway, but if she married a prince...
