[Ever since Ven returned to the village he's been on-edge... to put it lightly. Between the draft and his encounter with Vanitas, he's not only exhausted, but pretty scared at this point.

That's why, as he's making his way through the village and back towards his house, he's carrying his Keyblade with him and stopping occasionally just to make sure he's not being followed.

Just don't be surprised if he's a bit jumpy; kid's got a lot on his mind.

And when he finally makes it back home...]

You know, fighting a real war's nothing like fighting the Unversed. It's way more serious, and people die out there, on both sides... It's dangerous and kinda scary.

[He pauses for a few seconds.]

But I'm glad I could help. Even if what the Malnosso do is wrong, that battle was about more than just them. Plus, it feels good protecting people; it's a better reason to fight than just killing.

[And with that off his chest...]

I've mostly been thinking, actually.

[a pause. Keyblade or not, knowing that Ven's perfectly capable of taking care of himself since he has one or not, Sora can certainly empathize if Ven is still stressed. so his tone turns a little softer when he speaks again.]

You sure you're all right?

[Deciding to take one of his usual walks, Frederic is about town with a book in his hands. Unfortunately for poor Ven, the older man might accidentally bump into him since he was so invested in his book.]

Oh pardon me, I did not mean to be so careless. Are you all right, young man?

Yeah, me too.

[Well, there's no sense in hiding it.]

Huh?

[Whoa there! He totally wasn't expecting that, so he hops back and-- oh, okay. This guy doesn't look so bad.]

Don't worry about it. Anyway, I'm okay, just... kinda worried.

[The composer closes his book and smiles at the younger man, also taking time to give him a small bow.]

[He shrugs, smiling back at Frederick, though it's very strained.]

[Rika's out taking a walk when she accidentally bumps into Ven.]

Sitting on a bench is good, I was trying to find one so I could sit and read.

[Leon fixes up that filter, since that's a pretty sad filter percentage. He sounds tired.]

I think they do that on purpose -- pull us into battles we feel connected to. If we don't have a personal stake in it somehow, I think they may feel less in control of us.

[And by the time Sora reaches the bakery, he should be able to spot Ven hanging close by the door with a chocolate cupcake in hand.]

Why don't we look together? There's gotta be one around here somewhere.

[Man, that's kind of depressing, actually.]

Guess it makes sense, though. The Malnosso probably don't care if anyone gets hurt, as long as we get the job done...

You're such a kind boy, Ventus. Your idea is a very excellent one.

You have to wonder how well they fight off the Third Party on their own, though. People ... die when we're out there, but there have been some pretty bad situations in my own world. [Where two planets were destroyed because of one group.] We do ... really well for the amount of people they bring out there. [He's reluctant to admit it, considering he was right with someone as he died.]

It's weird to think about. They can do all kinds of experiments on us, but then they send people from the village to go out and fight their enemies. I don't mind, since we're protecting this world, but I still don't get why they'd pick people who can't defend themselves.
