[It happened when he went to check up on Vanitas and give him some freshly cooked ravioli. He'd gotten his head on straight after the recent experiment, meaning that he'd settled back to his regular routine, albeit with some awkwardness.

But when he went into Vanitas' room, he found nothing. Nothing but his music player and a few CDs left behind. It's... jarring, to say the least. He'd been spending months trying to make Vanitas a better person, but now that he's gone--

He could come back without memories. He'd be back to the way he was, hurting people for his own enjoyment. Trying to forge the χ-blade...

When Ven addresses the journal, there's no mistaking it-- he's upset. While some might be happy to hear the news, Ven is not one of those people.]

For those of you that knew him, Vanitas is... gone.

I guess you guys don't have to worry about him now.

[Except Ven's scared. Housemates might find him up on the roof, warily watching the sky. Later on, he'll be hanging by the bakery and the library, just trying to find a suitable distraction. First one of his closest friends disappeared, and now this... Just his luck.]

... He could come back, right? I mean, it's happened before.

[Though some of the people Kazooie's lost - Peach... - might never come back...]

But if he comes back, he'll probably forget this place.

And if that happens... it'll be really dangerous.

What'll happen if he forgets? Are you gonna have to kick his butt again or somethin', like Klungo?

Well, that's really lame! Better hope he remembers if he comes back...

[Her expression sobers a little, as much as possible with her.] Besides, this guy doesn't sound like we should just let him mess stuff up, if he comes back and causes trouble.

Well, if he does start causing trouble, I'm not gonna let that slide!

[Because Vanitas is his darkness, and he doesn't want his friends getting hurt.]

Good! A real hero wouldn't let trouble keep happening without kicking some butt to stop it!

[Or so Kazooie thinks, anyway.]

And that's exactly what I do. Sure, things get a little sad sometimes, but I can't stay sad forever.

[Because that just wouldn't fly.]

Good. Being sad forever would just be lame - there're plenty of things out there that are awesome and fun, even if sucky stuff does happen sometimes.

[Here, he'll go and scoop up a near by rock, drop it near his feet, and then cast the spell using his Keyblade. Within seconds, the rock starts to float.]

[... Okay, that is cool. Kazooie is actually shocked enough to scamper back a bit, but she doubles around to stare.]

... Awesome!

[And, at that, Ven flashes her a great big grin!]

You think that's cool? Just imagine lifting up a whole bunch of monsters with it.
