risingwinds | Eleventh Shooting Star

[In spite of recent happenings, Ven starts out his message sounding quite pleased with himself. Maybe even a little excited. However, those watching his entry may notice that his smile comes across as rather forced, as does his enthusiasm.]

There sure are a lot of new people this cycle! I know a lot of people have already said it, but welcome to Luceti! I know it's rough showing up in a new world, but there's a bunch of people here who'd be willing to help you get comfortable, so don't be afraid to ask. I know I'm always up to lending a hand.

And that reminds me... Terra's here! He's still getting used to this place, so if any of you see him around, don't be afraid to talk to him. He's pretty tall, has brown hair, and is kinda serious sometimes, but once you get to know him, he's a great guy. I bet he wouldn't mind making some new friends.

[However, that enthusiasm doesn't last very long. He remembers his last conversation with Xion over the journals, the impending threat he faces, and all that bottled up fear. Although he's trying his best to stay strong, to be brave, Ven knows better to ignore the truth. So, after a moment's pause, he drops the facade and tosses up a quick filter.]

... Actually, there's something else I wanted to talk about. Something really important.

Some of you guys might remember my warning about Vanitas from a few months ago. Well, it turns out that he's way more dangerous than I thought.

Not only that, but he's a part of me. The darkness from my heart.

[It'll probably sound weird to people who aren't used to KH logic, but if anyone questions it, he'll explain then. Right now, he's focused on getting the word out.]

And if the two of us fight, it'll create a powerful weapon called the χ-blade. It sounds just like "Keyblade," but it's nothing like the weapons me and my friends wield. If he gets his hands on it, he could end up hurting a lot of people. He's not the kinda guy you can reason with, either, which means if he attacks, he'll have to be stopped.

[He pauses again, his tone a little more fearful]

But if that happens, he'll get more than a weapon. Creating the χ-blade means that he'll take over my body. I won't be able to stop him if that happens, which means the χ-blade's gonna have to be destroyed, or...

[A beat.]

I will.

For now, I'm gonna try to keep that from happening, but I don't know how much longer I can run away. I won't let him win that easily, but chances are it's gonna happen sooner or later. So, guys, if he has his way, just... stay safe, okay?

.... Ven? [This thing about darkness, she doesn't really understand it. But she does understand having a body be taken over and used against your will, since she's experienced a similar form of it.

So you are light and he is darkness? Two sides of the same coin. I can see how such a separation may not last, but how did it happen to begin with?

That Keyblade thing... I remember you talking about that.

We'll look out for you, Ven. It'll be okay.

My old Master separated us a long time ago because I wouldn't give into the darkness. Since I couldn't get the χ-blade for him, he removed the darkness from my heart and left me with another Keyblade Master. I guess he wanted me to become stronger so we could fight someday.

Splitting us apart caused me to forget everything, and there's no way I could've fought him back then.

Thanks, Zack. Hopefully it won't happen, but if it does, I know I've got friends who'll be there.

Keyblades are weapons used to protect the worlds. The χ-blade's really different, though.

It's way more powerful, and it's supposed to be used to start a war.

And despite that the both of you can independently function on your own? How interesting and most unfortunate.

And this Vanitas, what exactly is he capable of doing? What should we look out for?

Well, he used to be way stronger than me. The first time I fought him, I could've died, but one of my friends saved me before it was too late.

[Granted, he's gotten much stronger since then.]

I don't know how strong he'll be if we join together, but he's really tough on his own. Vanitas can use a bunch of powerful magic, teleport, sink into the ground and attack from below, and create copies of himself.

[ There's a tapping sound as Saten drums her fingers, processing this. The way that speaks of this "Vanitas" is strange, and so she can't help but be a bit curious. ]

Did you create him?

Not exactly. Master Xehanort's the one who created him.

Right. He used to be a part of my heart until we got separated.

I see. And there's really no way of getting the two of you back together without creating this χ-blade?

If you were able to be separated without causing harm, can't the same be done to become whole again?

Even if there was another way, there's no way Vanitas would go along with it. He's his own person now, and he treats me like some kind of cast-off. Why would he wanna go back to me when he thinks I'm weak?

Still, I think creating the χ-blade really is the only way. Xehanort probably knew that when he split us apart.

Can you stop him before it happens?

I don't think that'll work. Even if I beat him, he'd be able to forge the χ-blade.

That's what happened when we got drafted. The only reason why we didn't merge back then was because he got sent back to his room.
