You know, this place isn't so bad. Even if it's a prison, at least it's peaceful, and there's a lot of room to explore. Maybe one of these days I'll go check out the forest or the mountains, but right now I'm fine with sticking around the village. Aqua just got here, anyway, and maybe Terra'll show up soon. If he does, we've already got a house set up. Well, sorta. We just moved in, so there's still a lot we could do.

[Briefly, Ventus pauses. The journals are supposed to be for communication, so there's a lot he could talk about, but where to start?

Anyway, I know that you guys come from all kinds of worlds. So what's your world like?

[Later tonight, people passing by might spot Ventus chilling on the roof of House 39. But why is he out so late in the first place?

Given how focused he is on the sky, it should be fairly clear. One of his favorite things to do back home was look at the stars, and given that the threat of Unversed seems next to nonexistent, there's finally a good opportunity to do just that.

Feel free to join him or maybe scold him for not carrying a blanket... or whatever floats your boat! In spite of the chilly weather, he doesn't seem too bothered, at least.]

I'm not surprised. Roxas thinks Sora's really important. He's done a lot for the worlds and the people on them.

Yeah, that's what I heard. He does sound pretty impressive, especially since he's never been trained.

What exactly do you mean trained anyway? What kind of training was he supposed to have?

Well, usually Keybearers are trained as apprentices first.

Do you know how they're trained?

'course I do! I'm an apprentice, after all.

[He laughs. Man, it's weird having to explain this to future people. Do they really not have Masters?]

Basically, Keyblade apprentices are trained by their Masters to protect the worlds, and someday when they become strong enough, they can take the Mark of Mastery exam and become Masters themselves.

[She doesn't say anything for a bit because the real question here is why the heck didn't Sora have to go through any of that.]

How long do the Keyblade apprentices usually have to train? Just until they're strong enough?

I think it's a pretty long time. I've been training with Master Eraqus for years, but he wouldn't even let me leave home.

Years? You must have been training since you were really young then.

It's been at least four years, maybe even longer. I can't really remember anything from before the Master took me in.

No, I never really found out.

It's okay, though. Even if I can't remember my life before, I don't mind. I've got Terra and Aqua and all the new friends I've made.

Yep, that's right! Terra's our friend, too, but I haven't seen him around.

Aqua hadn't seen him either when I met her. Maybe he'll show up someday soon.

Yeah, I'm sure he will! The three of us are connected, so we'll see each other again.

You guys sound just like me and my two best friends. We've always said the same thing, too.

Still, there are some people who just don't understand what it's like to have friends. It's too bad, because maybe they'd be happier if they just opened up a little.

I think you're right about that. There are some people who don't want friends, but those are the people who don't know how important it is to have them. It's kind of sad.
