Hey, can anyone hear me? I heard some voices coming from this journal, so I hope I'm doing this right.

[A beat.]

Anyway, my name's Ventus, and I've got a quick question. Could anyone tell me about this place? It looks like I'm in a forest, but I don't see any people around. Truth is, I'm kinda lost.

[Those in the forest are sure to find this derp wandering around in new feather garb. He stops every once in a while to look around, occasionally scratching his head.

It's odd. While he's used to world travel and even changes brought on by it to a degree, the fact that he showed up in this world without any of his belongings or the Star Shard. His clothes, his armor, and even the Star Shard just up and disappeared, which makes no sense.

So what's he doing? Well, given the way he's aimlessly making his way through the forest, he's either a) really lost, b) looking for something, or c) a combination of both!]

Man, I wonder what happened. Did somebody steal it?

[And what is this "it"? Should anyone encounter Ventus, he might just explain! For now, he'll continue on his way.]

[Hum. Because he had to travel to Disney Town, then to Olympus, and then Deep Space...]

I didn't get to know him that well before I left Radiant Garden, but he said that we're friends anyway. I'm kinda worried, though, because he said he lost his heart.

[...Give him a second, Ven, Roxas is doing quick-math here. Axel has been Axel for as long as he's known him, never Lea, and he's known Axel for years now. So that meant that Ven's from the past? And he's been to the garden, which means...whoa.]

What else did he say? How'd you meet him in the garden?

[Hmmm. Where to start...]

Well, we first met after Terra and Aqua left, and I was pretty bummed out at the time. The two of them kept telling me to go home because it was too dangerous, and the two of them got into a huge fight. I didn't know what to do because I'd never seen them fight before.

[Not like that, anyway. Training? Sure. The exam? Absolutely. But not a real argument...]

That's when Lea showed up. He made fun of the wooden Keyblade Terra gave me, and at first I was pretty mad. Then the two of us sparred, and he really helped me feel better.

[There's a pause, and Ven laughs quietly. He remembers it all so well.]

He had this friend named Isa, and just watching the two of them showed me a side of friendship I hadn't really thought of before. And after I met 'em, I decided to go and make some new friends, just so I could understand things better.

[He'll file the names Terra and Aqua for memory later. He's listening to Ventus ramble, making notes on a spare sheet of paper and everything. Research. It's important. He smirks a little at the idea of Axel's Other making fun of a wooden Keyblade. It fits.

...however, that smirk quickly disappears. A friend named...

...let's just do some quick letter-arranging...

...the fuck? The fuck is this? Oh right, Ventus is probably expecting an answer to all of that.]

Did you make a lot of new friends after that? [His tone has shifted into something more guarded though, but he is genuinely curious.]

[Ven isn't going to ask about the tone. Instead, he'll happily respond:]

You bet! I met a lot of people in my travels. Queen Minnie, Huey, Dewie, and Louie, Herc and Zack, Experiment 626...

Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, Tink, and before I came here I was trying to find Mickey.

[He's familiar with some of those names at least.]

Why were you trying to find the King?

The King?

[...Well, if Minnie's a queen...]

Well, I found his Star Shard in Neverland, and I wanted to give it back to him.

But now I'm here, so I guess it'll have to wait. I just hope nobody took it again.

Yeah, the King. That's who Mickey is.

He never told me he was a King...

Well, it's kinda like a shooting star, and it allows him to travel between worlds. The problem is, he can't choose where he goes or when he leaves. But if it wasn't for the Star Shard, then I never would've met him. He saved my life once, so I really owe him.

It's probably not something he wanted getting out at the time. [Whoops. Way to go, Roxas.]

...really? I always thought he just traveled with portals, or maybe a gummi ship or something. What do you mean he saved your life?

A Gummi Ship? What's that?

[And why portals? So many questions...]

I was fighting this masked jerk named Vanitas, but I just couldn't beat him on my own. If it wasn't for Mickey, he probably would've destroyed me.

It's a ship that's used to travel between the worlds. [That's what Sora used, anyway.]

[If it helps, Ven, Roxas has a million questions too.]

...don't think I've heard of him either. Why were you fighting with him anyway?

Oh. That sounds kinda like my Glider!

[But that begs the question of why Eraqus never mentioned them. :<]

Well, he kept badmouthing Terra, saying that he'd disappear or become a different person. I wasn't about to let him get away with that!

[Yeah he's not even going to ask what the hell a Glider is.]

But he was too strong, wasn't he?

Yeah. I couldn't beat him until Mickey gave me a hand.

...did you kill him?

No way! I couldn't kill somebody, even if he is a jerk.

But after we beat him, he got back up like nothing happened and left.

[Huh. So he's one of the noble ones, got it.]

Yeah, some of them do that. Probably a good thing the king saved you.

I agree, but I've gotten a lot stronger since then. If he tries to mess with my friends again, I'll be ready!

You've been training a lot lately?

A little, but mostly I've been fighting Unversed. So far they've shown up in every world I've visited, even Disney Town!

[Granted, not until he actually took the time to explore Disney Town, but they were there.]

[His first thought was trying to figure out what 'Disney Town' was, but that's not too important here.]

What are Unversed?

They're monsters. I don't know where they came from, but whenever they show up, there's trouble.
