Hey, can anyone hear me? I heard some voices coming from this journal, so I hope I'm doing this right.

[A beat.]

Anyway, my name's Ventus, and I've got a quick question. Could anyone tell me about this place? It looks like I'm in a forest, but I don't see any people around. Truth is, I'm kinda lost.

[Those in the forest are sure to find this derp wandering around in new feather garb. He stops every once in a while to look around, occasionally scratching his head.

It's odd. While he's used to world travel and even changes brought on by it to a degree, the fact that he showed up in this world without any of his belongings or the Star Shard. His clothes, his armor, and even the Star Shard just up and disappeared, which makes no sense.

So what's he doing? Well, given the way he's aimlessly making his way through the forest, he's either a) really lost, b) looking for something, or c) a combination of both!]

Man, I wonder what happened. Did somebody steal it?

[And what is this "it"? Should anyone encounter Ventus, he might just explain! For now, he'll continue on his way.]

Hey, Xion. This'll probably sound weird, but how come you look like me?

[ the question chills her to her bones. so much so she drops the journal from suddenly numb fingers, lifting her hands to her face.

she looks... like this boy?

like ... Roxas?

that conclusion doesn't make a lot of sense, but it scares Xion half to death. have some dead silence, Ven. ]

Xion?

[Oh dear. Maybe he shouldn't have said anything! He's just not sure how to handle this situation; after all, it's the first time he's seen anyone with his face before.]

...Hey, are you okay?

[ sorry, Ven. she's bolted -- for the nearest mirror. she has to see. she has to be sure. because when she had Sora's face, she knew...

But she sees nothing once she gets there. just herself. in the right body, with the right face, with the right hair on her head.

a few minutes go by before she comes back to her journal, slowly picking it up. she's no longer as completely panicked -- now she's torn between deep anxiety, confusion, curiosity, a lot of things. ]

... I'm fine. Sorry. But ... Ventus, I don't have any idea why I look like you. All I know is... you're identical to my best friend. His name is Roxas. None of this makes any sense.

[Wait, wait. So there's another person who looks like him?

Yeah, by now Ven looks even more confused. Confused and maybe a little worried.]

You mean there's someone else who looks like me?

He even sounds like you. I almost... um -- Ventus, have you ever heard of ... of Replicas?

Replicas?

[There's a short pause, and he shakes his head.]

No, I can't say I have. What are they?

[ there's a long silence. Never will there be a time when Xion isn't loathe to bring up her true nature, even to her closest friends. A relative stranger is very far down on her list of people she'd ever want to tell about something like this.

but much like Roxas, she's pretty determined to get to the bottom of this. ]

Replicas ... are copies made of other people. They look and sound exactly the same... [ a beat or three ] I'm a Replica. Made from someone else's memories, to look like a girl that person cared about...

[ she trails off. it feels somehow cruel to even imply she thinks Ven might be a Replica, but she doesn't know where else to go with this. ]

[At first, Ven doesn't reply. He doesn't know what to say, really. He's never heard of anything like this. Hell, the closest thing he can think of is Experiment 626, and he doesn't know much about his alien friend's origins.

But eventually he replies.]

I'm not sure if I understand, but y'know, that kinda reminds me of a friend of mine. His name's experiment 626, and I think he was created too. Not really a copy, but this jerk named Gantu treated him like an abomination.

I don't think it really matters if you're created, though. Even if you're supposed to be a copy of someone, that doesn't mean you are them.

[A beat.]

So are you saying he's a replica too?

[ Xion has to hold back a sigh. She's heard this before. And while they are kind words ... this wasn't what she was trying to get at.

However, Ven's response does tell her one thing: Replica or not, he definitely doesn't think he is one. Neither did Riku's Replica, but at least Vexen had information on that. She'd never heard tell of a third Replica... and one that looked like Roxas would have been a big deal.

Quite a mystery, this one. ]

Wh-- he? You mean Roxas? No! No, he's ... he's not like me. You... never mind. I don't know how to explain this...

Then what is he? There's gotta be some reason why he looks like me...

[--wait, wait! That didn't sound particularly nice, talking about him like a 'thing'.]

Not that I've got anything against the guy! It's just a lot to take in.

It's just... if he wants to tell you what he is, that should be up to him.

I understand. He's your friend, and it's his choice if he wants to say anything.

As much as I'd like to know, I'm not gonna force answers out of anyone.
