[Ven's had a lot on his mind these past few weeks. Between the draft, Terra's departure, and... recent events with Fuuko, he's been hit hard and fast.

And what better way to deal with issues than to talk about it? It's for this reason that Ven's pulled open his journal today.

Deep breaths, now. He can do this!]

Say, um. Let's say you just recently started... Well, I mean, if you were--

[He pauses. Gosh, why is this so awkward to ask? COMPOSURE, Ventus.]

Okay, how 'bout this? If you just got together with somebody, and... [...aaand freezing up again.

...aw, heck. He'll just get to the point.]

What kinda things are boyfriends supposed to do? [That came out kinda fast. But... there. At least he said it. And now that that's outta the way, it's time for a more somber subject... He'll get on that after a short pause.]

Also, that last draft really got me thinking. We weren't able to just tag people like before. In order to survive, everybody had to, well... kill. And for me, that's really scary. I can't just... take someone's life, even if they're the enemy.

So I guess what I wanna know is... how do you guys feel about that? And the drafts in general.

I know that's a really weird thing to tackle after that last question, but... well. Any answers are definitely appreciated!

When Vanitas kept on attacking everybody, that was the only option, wasn't it? Even if he wasn't the one to do it. Maybe... there really are cases where there's no other route.

Those zombies weren't even people anymore. Not really... And that alone is horrible to think about.]

That virus... It was the real problem. And they couldn't find a cure until it was already too late.

[Too late to save those who'd already died, anyway.]

Yes, the virus itself had been the origin of the problems we had come to face. The delay in creating a cure was, unfortunately, to be expected. We were uninformed, no data had been given to us prior to our arrival in Vaskoth, therefore the medical team had been forced to conduct their research and experimentation on a cure from scratch.

[It makes her upset how uninformed they were. They just walked into a battlefield entirely unknowing and oblivious until it was already too late. The Malnosso must've known something. They control whatever is inside the barriers, so how could they not have detected a virus like that in their compound?]

Mm. I can't blame 'em for not giving us details, but I really wish we could've known sooner. But... I guess sometimes bad things pop up outta the blue, and you can't always turn 'em around in time.

[His mind flashes to Vanitas. The χ-blade...

By the time he found out about that, he couldn't do a thing to stop it. Sure, his friends helped, but that didn't stop Vanitas from doing damage before, during, and after the fact.]

Yes... that is indeed true. [That only makes her think of what had happened to Nanako in November back home. She still feels guilty about how she only made things worse, how she could've reacted sooner, but it's a feeling she'd rather quell. Kanji wouldn't let her live it down if she continued to think this way.]

Had you evacuated early during the draft, Ven-kun? [To be honest, since her and everything else was a mess, she had a hard time finding out who was left, who was dead and who evacuated]

I didn't really have a choice.

[He got injured when the power cap went down. There was no way he would've lived if he'd stuck around.]

I see. [It worries her if something had happened to him but she's glad he got out of there before everything got so much worse]

I'm relieved you had managed to evacuate safely, in any case. What occurred after only doubled the amount of causalities.

Mm, that doesn't surprise me.

[But it does definitely put a damper on his mood... by a fair margin.]

Things were already intense as-is. When Masaomi and I went into the woods...
