[He did say he'd do this. That he'd explain everything... but that doesn't make things any less awkward. Before Ven says anything, he just sorta stares down at the journal, trying to figure out how to articulate things.

Hey. I'm sure a lot of you guys know about Vanitas by now, and most of you probably don't like him. He can be pretty harsh sometimes, and I know he's caused trouble before. The thing is...

[Hoo boy.]

Well, we're really close. We have been for a while now, I just didn't know how to say it before. I know this sounds weird, but he's really not a bad guy once you get to know him. Honest!

So maybe you guys could give him a chance?

[ooc: Forgot to add; since the event made him think it's always been that way, he doesn't remember Vantias almost killing Axel. :( Just getting into a fight... for reason.]

[ you know, so far, Xion's been having a pretty good time of this whole week. she's with a boy she loves, and it's nice to watch everyone being happy... though she'd had some quiet doubts, seeing certain .... people come together. but until this moment, she hasn't quite been able to get her finger on the pulse of what's so truly wrong.

of course ... then she hears this.

no, she can't -- she can't be hearing this. the words are searing -- even coming from Ven, so innocuous and kind.

she's not ... she can't be hearing this. she can't. there's just no way... for the first time, those experiment-gifted rose-colored glasses truly fall away. because she can't ... forget. what he did. what she saw. if she hadn't just happened to walk in when she did, Axel would be dead.

Axel would have died.

her voice is quiet, so quiet, heavy with shock and threat ... pain, and fear. ]

... no. Ven, no. You can't believe this. Tell me you aren't really saying this. You know what he did. Why ... why would I ever give him a chance? How could you even ask that...?

What he did...?

[What's she talking about? What could Vanitas do that would upset her so much?]

I don't understand.

[...hell. No. Roxas is going to make a few incoherent noises before he figures out how to word things.]

Are you kidding me? Ven, what are you saying!?

[She stares at her journal in stunned silence for a few moments before responding. When she does finally respond, she's quite angry. After everything Vanitas has done to all of them, there is no way she'd even consider giving him a chance. Ventus even saying such a thing is alarming.]

How could you even consider such a thing after everything he has done! And you've been keeping this from me? Ven... please tell me this isn't true.

[Why's everyone mad all of the sudden?

Ven doesn't respond right away; he's a little wary now, not to mention confused.]

Roxas, what's wrong? ... Xion acted like Vanitas did something really bad, but I can't remember a thing.

[He was afraid of this. Very, very afraid. Even Aqua's mad at him!

Needless to say, he sounds genuinely confused, as if he forgot everything she told him about the χ-blade.]

But what's he done besides saying mean things? I know he badmouthed Terra for a while, and we've gotten into a few fights, but that doesn't make him a bad guy. Sometimes people deserve a second chance.

Don't act like you don't know! Ven, you even asked me how you could help and I told you to go after him! And you did! You should know better than anyone how dangerous Vanitas is and -- and -- the fact that what he's done is unforgivable!

[He stops, torn. On one hand, he really trusts Vanitas right now, but on the other hand, he knows that she and Roxas wouldn't make this up.

I don't know what's going on, but... I trust you. You wouldn't make up something like that. But at the same time, Vanitas wouldn't go that far! There's just no way...

I can't help it. I really don't remember anything like that.

[He wants to apologize, but... this whole situation's just plain confusing.]

No way? [ breathless. how can this be? desperately ]

Ven, Axel almost died! Vanitas almost killed him in our own homehow could you? Ven, I don't ... I don't understand. [ those last words -- are colored by a deep sense of betrayal, but the mystification remains. there's no reason... would Ven really just forget?

what's going on here... ? ]

You don't remember...Ven, you're the on who offered to help us stop him! What do you mean he's not that bad? Why would you...what happened?

[But that doesn't make sense! Still, Xion wouldn't lie... right?

What's he supposed to do at a time like this? He doesn't want to upset her, but nothing's adding up!]

[Everyone's acting like it's the truth, but he can't help but feel a little doubtful. Who's he supposed to trust right now?]

I'm sorry, Roxas. I don't know what's going on...

Who are you going to believe, Ven? Him, or us?

Can I ask why you think he's suddenly okay?

... I don't know who to believe right now.

But that's how I've always felt. I just didn't know how to say it, or I would've done something sooner.

[ her voice is thick -- upset, angry, scared, hurt, a lot of things. beneath it all lies a sense of stinging betrayal. right now, she honestly doesn't want Ventus anywhere near her or her friends while he--

what if he brought Vanitas close to them? even if he didn't mean to-- the risk is just too great.

suddenly, she's glad he doesn't know the location of the house.

without another word, she shuts the journal. ]

...that's how you've always felt. [There's something odd about that.] Is that how he's always felt? Because that's a pretty funny way to show love.

... He just doesn't always know how to show it. That's how it's always been.

People who love you don't go around trying to kill your friends. We're your friends, right, Ven?
