risingwinds | Second Shooting Star

You know, this place isn't so bad. Even if it's a prison, at least it's peaceful, and there's a lot of room to explore. Maybe one of these days I'll go check out the forest or the mountains, but right now I'm fine with sticking around the village. Aqua just got here, anyway, and maybe Terra'll show up soon. If he does, we've already got a house set up. Well, sorta. We just moved in, so there's still a lot we could do.

[Briefly, Ventus pauses. The journals are supposed to be for communication, so there's a lot he could talk about, but where to start?

Anyway, I know that you guys come from all kinds of worlds. So what's your world like?

[Later tonight, people passing by might spot Ventus chilling on the roof of House 39. But why is he out so late in the first place?

Given how focused he is on the sky, it should be fairly clear. One of his favorite things to do back home was look at the stars, and given that the threat of Unversed seems next to nonexistent, there's finally a good opportunity to do just that.

Feel free to join him or maybe scold him for not carrying a blanket... or whatever floats your boat! In spite of the chilly weather, he doesn't seem too bothered, at least.]

Well, sometimes it's worth the danger if you know how to protect yourself.

Master Eraqus never let me leave my world because of all the dangers out there, but I don't regret leaving. I got to make some new friends and protect the worlds from the Unversed.

You and me both. I didn't get to see other worlds for a long time, but that just made it more exciting when I did leave.

Oh, so you've been to other worlds, too? There's a lot of people here who don't know about space travel.

...yes, it is. There was an empire bent on dominating the world with magic and technology, and...believe it or not, that wasn't the biggest threat. I guess it's weird that this place would be considered a reprieve, huh?

That's right! I'm a Keyblade apprentice, so protecting worlds is something I've been trained to do.

[There's a pause, and he laughs sheepishly.]

Except I kinda left without permission.

No, I don't think it's that weird. It sounds like things were really rough for you back home, and I think anyone would want a break if they were in your shoes.

But isn't there anyway to stop 'em? If world domination's not even the biggest threat, then aren't there at least some people fighting back?

Yes, there are. I'm part of a resistance group doing just that...but I can't really help them from here. I wish I could.

...it's not always a break here, though. The later part of this month can be pretty difficult to live with, depending on what they do to us.

Well, at least you'll be able to help them again once you get back. Even if it takes a while, I'm sure you'll do a great job.

Well, I was worried about my friend! I heard something might happen to him, but before I could tell him anything, he took off. I wanted to make sure he was okay, so I followed him, even if I wasn't supposed to.

[Ven pursues the , aiming a strike raid at it.]

[Score! But Ven's not done yet. He knows how notorious these guys are at escaping, so he keeps on following, trying to hit it with an aeroga. It's not quite as potent as normal, but at least it's something!]

That's right. The ones we can predict...and the ones we can't. At least the town-wide ones we can, though only when they'll happen and not what.

[Darn it! Ven remains in hot pursuit, trying to hit it with blizagas and firagas, and maybe a couple more strike raids.]

I read about some of 'em in the guide. It's like half of them are really dangerous and the others are just weird.

I guess they really are unpredictable.

[Ven makes sure to pick up the sweets as he pursues the little bugger! A few more hits, and he should be shifting into a Command Style.]

I'm guessing there was no other way to get in touch, if you had to chase after him?

None. I'm glad I left, though. The worlds were in danger, and I couldn't go back home with all the Unversed around.
